Frequently Asked Questions
What is your license status?
Our program meets all state licensing requirements for a church preschool. We received our Initial Notice of Compliance from the State of North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Child Development, certifying our compliance with all state mandates for churches before we opened in March of 2001. Our Notice of Compliance was updated in 2008 when we expanded our facility. Each year the certificate is renewed after an unannounced visit from our state consultant who performs a complete center inspection and we are inspected annually by the North Carolina Health Department and by the Town of Cary Fire Marshall. We also maintain a GS110-106 license issued by the North Carolina Division of Child Development and Early Education.
What is your curriculum?
The Children’s Place Preschool follows a theme-based curriculum designed to nurture children’s growth in all areas—mentally, emotionally, socially, physically, and spiritually. Each week, children engage in activities that incorporate Bible verses, hands-on learning experiences, and developmentally appropriate tasks tailored to different learning styles and abilities. Our structured yet playful approach fosters exploration through seasonal activities, chapel time, art, science, and math. As a play-based school, we emphasize learning through interactive, engaging and fun experiences. The Children’s Place Preschool curriculum is rooted in Christian principles and will not be modified to reflect other faith traditions. We uphold biblical teachings, including the foundation of family structure.
What is your classroom structure?
Each day and in each class, three different educational components are offered to the children - free choice, small group encounters and whole group teacher-directed experiences. Your child will be involved in several learning experiences incorporating arts & crafts, story time, music and rhythm, Bible stories, cooking and food fun, prayer, puzzles, home living, weekly Scripture thoughts, role play, and kindergarten-readiness activies. Reading, writing and math experiences that are age-appropriate, hands-on activities are also integrated throughout the day.
What is your enrollment age policy?
We accept children beginning at 6 weeks up to 4 years old. Children will be assigned to classes according to their ages as of August 31 (the current Wake County Public School date for entry into kindergarten). Our classes are arranged in this manner due to class size, staffing, state licensing requirements, and the age-appropriate curriculum. Children will not be moved/promoted to the next age class during the year regardless of birthdays. We feel it is important for chilren to remain with their peers and the initial placement. The Director will assist parents with the initial placement.

We feel that routine is best for the emotional and educational stability of each child as well as each class as a whole.

Tuition is due on the first program day of the month and is paid through the Tuition Express app. A $25.00 late fee will be charged if payment cannot be processed for any reason. Additional information regarding our tuition policy will be provided when you are preparing to enroll your child.
What is your inclement weather policy?
The Children's Place preschool follows the weather forecasts and the Wake County School System regarding delays or closings. If there is a two-hour delayed opening, we will delay for the same amount of time starting from our 7:30 am start time. For example, if we are delayed for two hours, we will open/begin classes at 9:30 am. In the event we need to dismiss early, we will notify parents via email and Remind.com. Watch the local WRAL news or call 919-851-3553 for delays and closings.
What should my child wear to school?
Children should be dressed in appropriate clothes for weather conditions, including coats, hats and gloves for cold weather since we have play time inside and out. Children should also be dressed in comfortable, washable play clothes. If girls wear dresses to school, they should wear shorts underneath. Only tennis shoes/sneakers with closed toes should be worn. Boots, sandals, flip flops, crocs, beach shoes, and dress shoes do not protect children's feet and do not give them proper footing when playing outside.
How do you handle food allergies?
We are a peanut-free school. Do not bring in any kind of nut products in any form (sandwiches, crackers, etc.). Sunflower butter is permitted. Be sure to label that it is sunflower butter. If your child has a severe allergy requiring an EpiPen or Benadryl, an allergy action plan signed by the child's physician must be posted in the child's class.
Do you provide snacks?
The Children's Place preschool provides a small morning and afternoon snack. Our snacks consist of two components. Please do not send extra items unless your child has dietary restrictions. The snack list will be posted by the check-in computer each week.
